초등영어시작 The First Day of School 100

The First Day of School 

Haemin woke up early in the morning.
해민이는 아침 일찍 잠에서 깨어났어요.

 

"Today is the day! I’m finally a first grader!"
"오늘이 바로 그날이야! 드디어 1학년이야!"

She put on her new bag and shiny sneakers.
그녀는 새 가방과 반짝이는 운동화를 신었어요.
(put on: 입다, 신다)

 

Her shoulders felt proud.
어깨가 으쓱해졌어요.

 

"Haemin, did you put on your name tag?"
"해민아, 이름표 달았니?"

 

Mom smiled and asked kindly.
엄마는 웃으며 다정하게 물었어요.

 

"Yes! Right here~" Haemin grinned.
"응! 여기~" 해민이는 씩 웃었어요.

 

When they got to the school gate,
그들이 학교 정문에 도착했을 때,
(get to: ~에 도착하다)

 

Many kids were running around.
아이들이 우르르 몰려다니고 있었어요.

 

Haemin kept her mouth closed.
해민이는 조용히 입술을 다물었어요.

 

Then a girl came up to her.
그때 어떤 아이가 다가와 말을 걸었어요.
(come up to: ~에게 다가가다)

 

"Are you in first grade too? I’m Sua!"
"너도 1학년이야? 난 수아야!"

 

"Yes, I’m Haemin!"
"응, 난 해민이야!"

 

They walked into the school together.
둘은 나란히 학교로 들어갔어요.
(walk into: ~로 들어가다)

 

Colorful balloons hung in the classroom.
교실에는 알록달록한 풍선들이 걸려 있었어요.

 

The teacher smiled and greeted them.
선생님이 웃으며 아이들에게 인사했어요.

 

"Welcome, everyone! You’re all amazing first graders now!"
"여러분, 환영해요! 이제 모두 멋진 1학년이에요!"

 

Haemin felt a little better.
해민이는 살짝 안심했어요.

 

Sua and Haemin sat together as desk mates.
수아와 해민이는 같은 짝으로 앉았어요.

 

They wrote each other’s names in pretty letters.
서로의 이름을 예쁘게 써주었어요.

 

‘Maybe school will be more fun than I thought!’
‘학교가 생각보다 훨씬 재미있을지도 몰라!’

 

Haemin thought to herself.
해민이는 속으로 생각했어요.

 

And today, going to school started to feel exciting.
그리고 오늘, 학교에 가는 일이 조금 설레기 시작했어요.
