The Memory Art Exhibition 

As our last project in elementary school, we held a special art exhibition.
Each of us was asked to draw out a memory from our school life.
It was our way to look back on the good times and share them with others.
We were excited to show off what those memories meant to us.

Our teacher told us to think about one memory to draw.
I started to look through my old notebooks.
So many moments came back to me.
I decided to focus on the day of our school picnic.
I quickly began to sketch out the scene.
Others came up with their own ideas.
Some students wrote down funny events first.
One friend picked out a day we built robots in science class.

We had a week to work on our drawings.
Every day after class, we would get together in the art room.
We helped each other set up the paints and brushes.
Sometimes, we just sat and talked about old times.
It was nice to hang out while drawing.
Our teacher would come by to check our progress.
She told us not to give up even if it looked hard.
We felt proud as our drawings slowly came together.

I had to start over once because I spilled paint.
But my friend helped me clean up the mess.
Then I was able to finish up my picture.
I even added in little details like ants on the picnic mat.
One student decided to mix in memories from different years.
Another chose to leave out her name so people could guess.
We were allowed to put up our names if we wanted.

Finally, the day of the exhibition came around.
We helped set out the drawings in the hallway.
We also put up signs and titles for each one.
Some of us even cut out decorations for the walls.
Parents and teachers started to show up.
They walked around to see the artwork.
Some students stood by their pictures to explain.
Others just wanted to watch over from a distance.

When people stopped to look at my picture, I felt nervous.
Then someone said, “This one really brings back memories!”
That made me lighten up and smile.
My parents came and took pictures of my work.
My teacher told me I really grew into an artist.
That made me feel proud of myself.
I also went to check out my friends’ drawings.
They came out so colorful and full of feeling.

Some drawings made us laugh, others made us tear up.
I was amazed by what everyone could come up with.
One had a picture of our classroom in winter.
Another showed us singing in music class.
We also talked over the memories we chose.
We even took turns guessing whose drawing was whose.
I will always hold on to this experience.
Our teacher promised to keep the drawings in the library.

I’m glad we had a chance to share our memories this way.
Drawing helped us express what was in our hearts.
Now, every time I walk past the art room,
I’ll think back to the time we made those drawings.
The exhibition helped us wrap up our elementary years.
It was more than just art—it was our story.
And I’m proud that my drawing is a part of it.

해석

초등학교 마지막 프로젝트로, 우리 반은 특별한 그림 전시회를 열었어요.

각자 학교생활 속 추억 한 장면을 그리기로 했죠.

그건 좋은 시절을 되돌아보고,

다른 사람과 나누는 방법이었어요.

우리는 이 기억을 자랑스럽게 보여주고 싶었어요.

 

선생님은 우리가 떠오르는 한 장면을 생각해보라 하셨어요.

저는 예전 노트를 훑어보며 추억을 떠올렸어요.

너무 많은 순간들이 다시 떠올랐죠.

저는 소풍 날을 집중적으로 그리기로 했어요.

바로 스케치를 시작했어요.

친구들도 각자 아이디어를 생각해냈고,

어떤 친구는 먼저 재밌던 일을 적어보고,

또 한 친구는 과학시간에 로봇 만들던 날을 선택했어요.

 

우리는 일주일간 그림을 준비했어요.

수업 후마다 미술실에 모여서,

붓과 물감을 준비했고,

추억을 이야기하며 함께 어울렸어요.

선생님은 가끔 들르셔서 진행 상황을 보셨어요.

“포기하지 말고 계속 해보렴.”

우리는 점점 완성되어 가는 그림에 뿌듯함을 느꼈어요.

 

한 번은 물감을 쏟아서 다시 그려야 했어요.

친구가 정리하는 걸 도와줬고,

결국 그림을 끝냈어요.

피크닉 매트 위의 개미까지 그려 넣었고,

어떤 친구는 여러 해의 추억을 섞어 표현했어요.

또 누군가는 자기 이름을 일부러 안 쓰고 사람들에게 추측하게 했죠.

우리는 이름을 붙여도 된다고 했어요.

 

드디어 전시 날이 다가왔어요.

우리는 복도에 그림을 진열하고,

제목과 안내판도 붙였어요.

벽에 붙일 장식도 오렸고,

학부모와 선생님들이 하나 둘 오셨어요.

복도를 돌며 그림을 감상하셨어요.

어떤 친구는 자신의 그림 옆에 서서 설명했고,

다른 친구들은 뒤에서 조용히 지켜봤어요.

 

제 그림을 바라보며 어떤 분이 “이거 진짜 옛 기억이 떠오르네요”라고 말했어요.

그 말에 저도 긴장이 풀리고 미소 지었어요.

부모님이 오셔서 제 작품을 사진 찍어주셨고,

선생님은 “너 정말 멋진 작가로 성장했구나”라고 하셨어요.

그 말에 자랑스러웠어요.

저도 친구들의 그림을 살펴봤어요.

모두 멋지게 완성되어 있었어요.

 

어떤 그림은 웃음을 주었고, 어떤 그림은 눈물이 날 정도로 감동적이었어요.

다들 얼마나 멋진 걸 생각해냈는지 놀라웠어요.

어느 그림은 겨울 교실을,

또 다른 그림은 음악시간에 노래하는 장면을 담았죠.

우리는 서로 기억을 이야기하고,

누가 그린 그림인지 맞혀보기도 했어요.

이 경험을 저는 꼭 간직하고 싶어요.

선생님은 이 그림들을 도서관에 보관하신다고 했어요.

 

이런 식으로 추억을 나눌 수 있어서 참 좋았어요.

그림은 우리 마음을 표현하는 도구였죠.

이제 미술실을 지나갈 때마다,

그림을 그리던 그 순간을 회상하게 될 거예요.

이 전시는 초등학교의 마무리였어요.

단순한 미술이 아니라, 우리의 이야기였죠.

그리고 제 그림이 그 이야기의 일부라는 게 자랑스러워요.
