1 When I Had to Write Instead of Draw 

Hey everyone! Something surprising happened today.

Our teacher told us to put away our colored pencils.
Instead of drawing, we had to write out a topic essay.
I usually look forward to drawing pictures in my diary.
So at first, I wanted to complain about the change.
But then I decided to go along with it and try my best.

I came up with a story about a rainy day at the park.
First, I wrote down a list of fun things that happened.
Then I put together my ideas in order.
It was hard not to mess up, but I kept going.
My friend even helped me look over my first paragraph.

I used colorful words to bring out the feelings in my writing.
Instead of a sun or clouds, I had to paint with words.
I tried to think back on how I felt that day.
I also had to cut out some parts that didn’t fit.
My teacher told me to fill in more details in the ending.

When I finished, I was proud I didn’t give up.
I handed in my writing and felt good about it.
After school, I told my mom what I did.
She said I had really grown up a lot.
Maybe next time, I’ll even look forward to writing more than drawing!

3 해석

안녕 친구들! 오늘은 조금 놀라운 일이 있었어.

 

우리 선생님께서 색연필을 치우라고 하셨어.

그림을 그리는 대신, 주제 글을 써야 했지.

나는 보통 그림일기 쓰는 걸 기대하거든.

처음에는 “왜 이래?” 하고 불평하고 싶었지만,

그래도 그냥 따라가보기로 하고 최선을 다해보기로 했어.

 

나는 공원에서 비를 맞았던 날에 대한 이야기를 떠올렸어.

먼저 재미있었던 일들을 쭉 적어봤어.

그리고 그걸 순서대로 정리했지.

실수하지 않으려고 애썼고, 계속 써나갔어.

친구가 내 첫 문단을 읽고 검토도 도와줬어.

 

내 글에서 감정을 더 잘 드러내려고 예쁜 단어들을 사용했어.

햇빛이나 구름 그림 대신, 단어로 그림을 그리는 느낌이었지.

그날 내가 어떤 기분이었는지 되새겨보기도 했고,

필요 없는 부분은 잘라내기도 했어.

선생님은 결말에 조금 더 자세한 내용을 채워보라고 하셨어.

 

다 쓰고 나니 포기하지 않은 내 자신이 자랑스러웠어.

나는 글을 제출했고 기분이 꽤 좋았어.

집에 와서 엄마에게 얘기하자, 엄마는 내가 정말 많이 자랐다고 하셨어.

다음번엔 오히려 그림보다 글쓰기를 더 기대하게 될지도 몰라!
