Embarrassed During Health Class 700

Today in health class, something really embarrassed me.
Our teacher told us we would learn about growing up.
We sat down quietly and waited.
Then the nurse came in with a box and a poster.
She put up the poster on the board.
It was about the human body.
Some kids giggled right away.
I tried to stay serious, but I felt nervous.
The nurse talked about body changes.
She used words I never heard before.
I looked around to see if others were confused.
My friend covered her face and laughed.
That made me laugh too, even though I didn’t mean to.
The nurse smiled and said, “It’s okay to feel shy.”
Then she asked us questions.
“Do you know what puberty is?”
Nobody spoke up.
We all looked down at our desks.
I wanted to disappear.
Then the nurse handed out some papers.
They had pictures and notes.
We read through the papers together.
The nurse told us about good hygiene.
She said we should take care of our bodies.
We should wash up every day and eat well.
That part was easier to understand.
I raised my hand and asked a question.
My voice shook a little, but the nurse nodded.
She said, “That’s a great question.”
I felt better after that.
At the end, the teacher reminded us that this is normal.
She said, “Everyone goes through this.”
We all smiled and packed up our things.
At lunch, we talked about the class.
Some kids still laughed about it.
I told my friend, “It was awkward but helpful.”
When I got home, Mom asked about school.
I told her about health class.
She laughed gently and said, “I remember my first time too.”
Now I don’t feel so shy anymore.
Growing up is weird… but also cool.

해석

오늘 보건 수업 시간에 정말 당황스러운 일이 있었어요.

선생님은 우리가 성장에 대해 배울 거라고 하셨어요.

우리는 조용히 앉아서 기다렸어요.

그때 보건 선생님이 상자와 포스터를 들고 들어오셨어요.

그분은 포스터를 칠판에 붙이셨어요.

그 포스터는 인체에 관한 것이었어요.

어떤 친구들은 바로 웃기 시작했어요.

저는 진지하려고 했지만 긴장됐어요.

보건 선생님은 몸의 변화에 대해 이야기하셨어요.

처음 듣는 단어도 있었어요.

다른 친구들도 헷갈리는지 두리번거렸어요.

친구가 얼굴을 가리고 웃었어요.

그걸 보고 저도 웃었어요, 일부러 그런 건 아니었지만요.

선생님은 웃으시며 “부끄러운 감정은 괜찮아요”라고 하셨어요.

그러고는 질문을 하셨어요.

“사춘기가 뭔지 아는 사람?”

아무도 말하지 않았어요.

모두 책상만 내려다봤어요.

저는 사라지고 싶었어요.

그 후 선생님은 종이를 나눠주셨어요.

거기엔 그림과 설명이 있었어요.

우리는 함께 읽었어요.

보건 선생님은 위생에 대해 이야기해주셨어요.

몸을 잘 돌봐야 한다고 하셨어요.

매일 씻고, 잘 먹어야 한다고요.

그 부분은 이해하기 쉬웠어요.

저는 손을 들고 질문을 했어요.

목소리가 약간 떨렸지만 선생님은 고개를 끄덕였어요.

“좋은 질문이에요”라고 하셨어요.

그 말에 기분이 좀 나아졌어요.

수업 마지막에 선생님은 이렇게 말씀하셨어요.

“이건 누구나 겪는 일이에요.”

우리는 웃으며 가방을 챙겼어요.

점심시간에 친구들과 이 수업에 대해 이야기했어요.

아직도 웃는 친구들도 있었어요.

저는 친구에게 “좀 어색했지만 도움이 됐어”라고 말했어요.

집에 오자 엄마가 학교 어땠냐고 물었어요.

보건 수업 이야기를 했더니

엄마는 웃으시며 “나도 처음엔 그랬단다”라고 하셨어요.

지금은 부끄럽지 않아요.

성장하는 건 이상하지만… 멋지기도 해요.
