Science Experiment 

Today in science class, we planned to do an experiment.
The teacher showed us how to set up the tools.
We put together a cup, paper, and some water.
Then we looked forward to making something cool.
But something went wrong quickly.
When I moved the paper, the cup fell over.
The water spilled out all over the desk.
My friend and I just looked at each other.
We didn’t know what to do, so we called out to the teacher.
She came over and smiled kindly.
She told us not to give up.
So we started over and tried again.
This time, we held on to the cup tightly.
Still, the water came out again.
We couldn’t stop laughing.
One student ran out of the classroom to get paper towels.
We all helped out to clean the mess.
The teacher said it was okay to mess up.
She told us, “Keep trying! Don’t give up!”
Later, we wrote down our results.
I thought back on what went wrong.
I also talked about the mistake with my group.
We all laughed at the funny parts.
I think we can learn from our mistake.
Next time, I will watch out for the way I move things.
I don’t want the cup to tip over again.
After cleaning, we put away the tools.
Then we sat down and drew what happened.
I came up with a funny comic about our mess.
Our teacher looked over my picture and smiled.
She picked out my drawing to show the class.
She said it showed how we can turn mistakes into lessons.
At lunch, I talked over the experiment with my friend.
We went over the steps again.
He told me, “Don’t worry. Things work out in the end.”
After lunch, we got back to class.
We wrote down what we learned.
My friend even put in a joke at the end.
I’m glad we didn’t give up.
We ended up having fun even after failing.

본문 해석

오늘 과학 시간에 우리는 실험을 계획했다.
선생님은 도구를 세팅하는 방법을 보여주셨다.
컵, 종이, 물을 함께 준비했다.
그리고 우리는 멋진 무언가가 생기길 기대했다.
하지만 금방 일이 잘못되었다.
내가 종이를 움직이자 컵이 넘어졌다.
물이 책상 위로 쏟아졌다.
나와 친구는 서로를 바라보았다.
어쩔 줄 몰라서 선생님을 소리쳐 불렀다.
선생님은 다가오셔서 다정하게 웃으셨다.
그분은 우리에게 포기하지 말라고 하셨다.
그래서 우리는 처음부터 다시 시작했다.
이번엔 컵을 꼭 잡고 있었다.
그런데도 또다시 물이 흘러나왔다.
우리는 웃음을 멈출 수 없었다.
한 친구는 종이 타월을 가져오려고 달려나갔다.
모두 함께 청소를 도왔다.
선생님은 실수해도 괜찮다고 하셨다.
“계속 시도해! 절대 포기하지 마!”라고 하셨다.
나중에는 우리가 실험한 내용을 적었다.
나는 뭐가 잘못됐는지 돌이켜보았다.
우리 조와 함께 실수에 대해 이야기했다.
우리는 웃긴 장면들을 함께 웃었다.
실수로부터 배울 수 있다고 생각했다.
다음에는 물건을 움직일 때 더 조심해야겠다.
컵이 또 넘어지게 하고 싶지 않다.
청소를 마치고 도구들을 정리했다.
그리고 우리는 앉아서 일어난 일을 그렸다.
나는 실수 장면을 생각해내며 만화를 그렸다.
선생님은 내 그림을 살펴보시고 웃으셨다.
그림을 골라서 반 친구들에게 보여주셨다.
“실수를 교훈으로 바꾸는 좋은 예야.” 라고 하셨다.
점심시간에 나는 친구와 실험 이야기를 나누었다.
우리는 실험 과정을 다시 검토했다.
친구는 “걱정 마, 결국엔 다 잘될 거야” 라고 말했다.
점심 후 우리는 수업에 돌아갔다.
그리고 우리가 배운 것을 다시 적었다.
친구는 마지막에 농담 하나도 덧붙였다.
우리가 포기하지 않아서 기쁘다.
결국 우리는 실패 속에서도 즐거운 시간으로 마무리했다.
