 Parent Visit Day 

Today was Parent Visit Day, and Dabin felt nervous.
“What if I mess up?” he asked himself.

He looked over at the door as moms and dads walked in.

His mom waved and smiled.
“You can do it,” she mouthed quietly.

The teacher stood up and said,
“Let’s show our parents what we’ve learned!”

Dabin got out his book and stood in front of the class.
His hands shook a little, but he took a deep breath.

He read aloud a poem about spring.
His voice was soft, but it grew stronger with each line.

When he finished, the room filled with claps.

“You were great!” his mom called out happily.

After class, she came over and hugged him tight.
“I’m so proud of you, Dabin.”

Dabin smiled big and said,
“I was scared, but now I feel brave.”

Sometimes, a little courage
grows big when someone believes in you.

“혹시 내가 실수하면 어쩌지?” 그가 스스로에게 물었어요.

 

그는 문 쪽을 바라보았고, 엄마 아빠들이 교실로 들어왔어요.

 

엄마는 손을 흔들며 웃었어요.

“넌 잘할 수 있어,” 엄마가 입모양으로 말했어요.

 

선생님이 일어서며 말했어요.

“부모님께 우리가 배운 걸 보여드릴까요!”

 

다빈이는 책을 꺼내 교실 앞에 섰어요.

손이 약간 떨렸지만, 그는 심호흡을 했어요.

 

그는 봄에 관한 시를 소리 내어 읽었어요.

처음엔 목소리가 작았지만, 읽을수록 점점 힘이 생겼어요.

 

그가 다 읽자 교실은 박수 소리로 가득 찼어요.

 

“정말 잘했어!” 엄마가 기쁘게 외쳤어요.

 

수업이 끝난 뒤, 엄마가 다가와 다빈이를 꼭 안아줬어요.

“다빈아, 정말 자랑스러워.”

 

다빈이는 활짝 웃으며 말했어요.

“무서웠는데, 지금은 용기가 생겼어.”

 

가끔은 작은 용기가

누군가의 응원으로 크게 자라나요.
