1 The Day We Chose Runners for Sports Day 

Today at school, our teacher talked about Sports Day.
She said we would have a big relay race.
Everyone got excited.
She told us to pick four runners from each class.
We all looked at each other.
Some kids stood up right away.
They raised their hands quickly.
I wanted to join, too, but I felt shy.
My friend whispered, “You should try!”
So I slowly put up my hand.
The teacher wrote down our names.
Then, we went out to the playground.
It was time for a test run.
The teacher lined us up in groups.
My heart was beating fast.
When it was my turn, I ran as fast as I could.
The wind blew through my hair.
I passed the baton to the next person.
We all cheered for each other.
After the run, we sat down and waited.
The teacher walked over with the list.
She called out the names of the runners.
I held my breath.
Then she said my name!
I couldn’t believe it.
I jumped up and smiled.
My friends clapped and gave me high fives.
The teacher said, “Practice starts tomorrow.”
I felt proud and a little nervous.
At home, I told my family the news.
They were happy and cheered me on.
Mom said, “Let’s buy new sneakers!”
I felt warm inside.
I will train hard and do my best.

다음 사람에게 바통을 넘겼어요.

우리는 서로 응원했어요.

달리기 후 우리는 앉아서 기다렸어요.

선생님이 명단을 들고 걸어오셨어요.

주자들의 이름을 부르셨어요.

숨을 멈추고 들었어요.

그리고 제 이름이 들렸어요!

믿기지 않았어요.

펄쩍 뛰며 웃었어요.

친구들이 박수치고 하이파이브를 해줬어요.

선생님이 “내일부터 연습 시작이야”라고 하셨어요.

자랑스럽고 조금 긴장됐어요.

집에 가서 가족들에게 말했어요.

기뻐하며 응원해주셨어요.

엄마가 “운동화 사러 가자!”고 하셨어요.

가슴이 따뜻해졌어요.

이제 열심히 훈련하고 최선을 다할 거예요.
