A Fun Weekend Trip
Last Saturday, Ben and his family got up early in the morning.
"Wake up, Ben! Time to pack up your bag!" said Mom.
Ben put on his favorite hat and picked out a jacket because it was a little cold. He also picked up his toy binoculars to look at birds.
Dad said, "Let’s head out to the mountains now!"
Ben was so excited. He couldn’t wait to set off on the trip.
In the car, Ben looked out the window and saw cows, sheep, and birds.
"Look, Dad! The birds are flying over the river!" Ben shouted.
Dad smiled and said, "Yes! Keep watching. You might come across more animals."
After a long drive, they got to the mountain.
Ben jumped out of the car and ran over to the trail.
"Wait! We need to put on our backpacks and bring along some water," said Mom.
As they walked up the trail, Ben loved to pick up pretty leaves and look around for bugs.
"Don’t wander off, Ben," said Dad. "Stay close to us!"
Soon, they came across a small stream.
"Let’s sit down and take out some snacks," said Mom.
They handed out sandwiches, apples, and juice. Ben ate up his food quickly because he was hungry.
"Slow down, Ben!" laughed Dad.
After lunch, Ben wanted to climb up a big rock.
"Be careful, Ben! Don’t fall off," Mom called.
But Ben was careful and even called out to his dad, "Look at me! I made it to the top!"
Then they walked on along the trail and came up with a fun game.
"Let’s look for special stones and funny-shaped leaves," said Ben.
"Good idea!" said Dad. "Let’s see who can find out the most interesting one."
Ben picked up a shiny stone and showed off to his mom.
"Wow! That’s beautiful," she said.
"I think it looks like a heart," said Ben.
As they climbed higher, they came across a group of kids.
"Hi! Want to play with us?" one girl asked.
"Sure!" said Ben. They all joined in a game of tag and ran around the trees.
After a while, Dad said, "It’s time to move on if we want to reach the top."
Ben waved goodbye to the new friends and caught up with his parents.
Finally, when they reached the top of the mountain, they sat down to rest.
"Look at the view!" said Mom.
Ben looked around and saw the whole town below.
"Wow! I can see our house from here!" he said.
Dad took out his camera to take pictures.
"Let’s take a picture together," said Mom.
They all lined up and smiled at the camera.
As the sun went down, Dad said, "It’s time to head back now."
Ben didn’t want to leave. "Can we come back next weekend?" he asked.
"Sure," said Dad. "We’ll plan out another trip soon. Maybe to the lake next time!"
On the way home, Ben thought about all the fun he had.
"I want to write down everything in my notebook when I get back," he said.
"And I’ll draw up a picture of the mountain too," added Ben.
That night, Ben lay down in bed and smiled.
He looked back on the day and whispered, "What a fun day!"
Soon he fell asleep, dreaming of the next adventure.
