A Yummy Dinner Out
Last Friday, Emma and her family got ready to go out for dinner.
"Let’s go out to eat tonight!" said Dad. "Pick a place you like!"
Emma thought about it for a minute and said, "I want to eat pizza and maybe ice cream for dessert!"
"Great idea! Let’s head out now before it gets too busy," said Mom.
Emma put on her favorite dress and picked out her red shoes.
She also grabbed her little purse to bring along her toy doll.
When they arrived at the restaurant, they looked around for a table.
"Let’s sit down over there by the window," said Emma.
"I love sitting by the window so I can look out and see the cars and people walking by," she said happily.
The waiter came over and said, "Welcome! Can I take down your order?"
Emma said, "I want cheese pizza, please!"
Dad said, "I’ll go with the spaghetti."
Mom smiled and said, "I’ll try out the salad today. And maybe a soup too!"
While waiting, Emma looked over the menu again and pointed out some desserts.
"Can we order up ice cream later? And look! They have chocolate cake too!"
"We’ll see if you eat up all your dinner first," said Dad, laughing.
Soon, the waiter brought out their food.
"Wow! This looks so good!" Emma said.
She dug in right away and ate up her pizza quickly.
Dad laughed and said, "Slow down, Emma! You’ll get a tummy ache if you eat too fast."
Emma smiled and drank up her juice.
After dinner, the waiter came back to clear away the plates.
"Would you like dessert?" he asked.
Emma and her family looked at each other and said together, "Yes, please!"
They picked out chocolate ice cream to share out.
The waiter brought out three spoons so they could split up the ice cream.
While eating, Emma looked around the restaurant and pointed out a big cake on the counter.
"Dad, can we bring home a cake for Grandma?"
"Good idea! Let's ask for a box to pack up a slice," said Mom.
As they finished eating dessert, a small band in the corner of the restaurant started up a song.
"Look, Emma! They are going to play for the people here!" said Mom.
Emma clapped her hands. "I want to listen to them for a while before we leave!"
After the music, they stood up and put on their jackets.
Dad said, "Don’t forget to pick up your doll, Emma."
"Oh, right! I almost left behind my doll," Emma said, laughing.
"Thanks for dinner, Dad! This was the best pizza ever," Emma said happily.
Mom added, "We should come back here for Grandma’s birthday."
"Yes! And maybe try out that big chocolate cake next time," said Emma.
On the way home, Emma thought back to the yummy pizza, the music, and the ice cream.
"When can we go out to eat again?" she asked.
"Maybe next weekend," said Dad. "We can check out a new place or come back here."
Emma smiled and said, "I can’t wait! Next time I’ll write down everything we eat!"
That night, Emma lay down in bed and smiled.
She looked back on the fun night and whispered, "What a great dinner out!"
Soon she fell asleep, dreaming of pizza, ice cream, and music
