1 A Special Day at the Independence Hall 800

Today was a very special and meaningful day for my whole family. My big brother, Kim Taejun, is in middle school, and my big sister, Kim Minji, is in high school and will take her college exam soon. We are usually busy, so we don’t spend much time together. But today, we all went on a trip to the Independence Hall in Cheonan!

From the morning, my heart filled up with excitement like spring flowers in bloom. When we finally arrived at the hall, I was amazed by the huge and beautiful building. We walked through the big plaza with green grass and waving Korean flags. Then, we stepped into the exhibition hall, and it felt like time travel!

My brother and sister already learned history at school, so they pointed out many things and explained them to me. They talked about how hard the people worked during the Japanese occupation and how brave the freedom fighters were. I learned so much from their stories.

Inside the halls, there were many old things—photos, clothes, letters, and even broken weapons. Just looking at them made my heart feel heavy. I thought about the heroes who gave their lives for Korea. They were very brave and strong. I felt proud and thankful.

The best part for me was the Taegukgi Hall, where many old Korean flags were shown. Each flag had a different story and meaning. My siblings talked about the symbols and changes in the flag over time. As I listened, I felt proud to be Korean. Something warm grew in my heart.

At lunch, we sat down together and ate yummy bibimbap at the cozy museum restaurant. We usually talk about our own things, but today we shared our thoughts about history and had a nice time together.

After lunch, we went out to the big grass field to fly a kite. It was so fun! Then, we stopped by the souvenir shop and bought Taegukgi pins. When I put on the pin, I felt strong and proud.

On the way home, I looked out the car window. The sky and trees looked more beautiful than in the morning. I felt like I had learned something important today. I hope our family can go together again to other special places and learn more about our history.

Today at the Independence Hall was a day I will always remember.

독립기념관에서의 특별한 하루

 

오늘은 우리 가족에게 정말 특별하고 의미 있는 날이었어요. 중학생인 형 김태준, 곧 대학 입시를 앞둔 고등학생 누나 김민지, 그리고 저. 평소엔 각자 바빠서 같이 있는 시간이 거의 없지만, 오늘은 천안에 있는 독립기념관으로 여행을 갔어요(go on)!

 

아침부터 제 마음은 설렘으로 가득했어요(fill up). 드디어 도착했을 때(arrive at), 큰 건물이 너무 멋졌어요. 잔디밭과 수많은 태극기들이 펄럭이고 있었어요. 우리는 태극기 광장을 지나 전시관 안으로 들어갔어요(step into). 마치 시간 여행을 하는 기분이었어요!

 

형과 누나는 전시물을 보며 이것저것 가르쳐주었어요(point out). 일제강점기의 어려움과 독립운동가들의 이야기들을 자세히 설명해줬어요. 저는 그 이야기를 들으며 많이 배웠어요.

 

전시관에는 오래된 사진, 옷, 편지, 무기 등이 전시되어 있었어요. 그걸 바라보니 마음이 뭉클했어요. 나라를 위해 목숨을 바친 분들의 용기와 희생에 감사함을 느꼈어요.

 

저는 특히 태극기 전시관이 가장 기억에 남아요. 시대마다 다른 모습의 태극기를 보며, 태극기의 깊은 의미를 새롭게 알게 되었어요. 형과 누나가 태극기에 대해 이야기해줬어요(talk about). 제 마음 속에서 애국심이 올라오는 느낌이었어요.

 

점심은 박물관 안의 식당에서 같이 앉아(sit down) 맛있는 비빔밥을 먹었어요. 평소엔 각자 이야기만 하는데, 오늘은 역사 이야기로 서로 생각을 나눴어요. 참 따뜻한 시간이었어요.

 

식사 후엔 잔디밭으로 나가(go out) 연도 날리고, 기념품 가게에 잠시 들러(stop by) 태극기 배지를 샀어요. 배지를 달자(put on) 마음이 든든해졌어요.

 

집에 돌아가는 차 안, 창밖 풍경이 아침보다 더 아름다워 보였어요. 가족과 함께 역사를 배우고 나라를 사랑하는 마음을 키운 멋진 하루였어요. 다음에도 꼭 가족이 함께 역사 여행을 가고 싶어요(go together).

 

오늘 독립기념관에서의 경험은 제 마음 속에 오래도록 남을 소중한 추억이 될 거예요.
