(A Bible Story for Kids – Easy English)

Once upon a time, the people of Israel lived in Egypt.
They were not free. They worked hard every day.
They were very tired and cried out to God.
God heard them and sent Moses to bring them out of Egypt.

God did many miracles.
He brought out His people with great power.
He looked after them in the desert.
He gave out food from the sky and water from rocks.
God wanted to give them a new home—a land full of good things.

One day, God told Moses,
Send out twelve men to check out the land I will give you.
They must look around and write down what they see.”

Moses called in twelve leaders.
One of them was Caleb, son of Jephunneh.
He was brave, kind, and full of faith.
Another was Joshua, his strong and faithful friend.

The twelve men set out on a long journey.
They went into the land and walked around for forty days.
They saw tall cities and big walls.
They saw strong men with weapons.
But they also saw rivers, trees, and big fruit.

When they came back, ten of them were afraid.
They said, “The people there are too big and strong.
They will fight off anyone. We cannot take over the land.”

The people of Israel got scared.
They cried out and said,
“We want to go back to Egypt!”
They turned away from God and Moses.

But Caleb stood up and said with a loud voice,
“Don’t be afraid! God is with us!
Let’s go after the land and take it over. We can do it!”

But the people did not listen.
They even wanted to hurt Moses and Caleb.
God was very sad. He said,
“This group will not go into the good land.
They turned away from Me and did not believe.
Only Caleb and Joshua will go in, because they followed after Me with all their hearts.”

So the people had to walk around in the desert for 40 years.
They were very sorry, but it was too late.
Many people died in the desert.
But Caleb and Joshua held on to God’s promise.
They believed in Him and did not give up.

Many years went by.
The children of the old people grew up.
Now they were strong and ready to go into the land.

God led in the new people, and Joshua became their leader.
Now Caleb was 85 years old!
His hair was white, and he had many lines on his face.
But his eyes were bright, and his heart was strong.

One day Caleb came to Joshua and said,
“My friend, do you remember what God said to Moses?
He said that this land would be mine.
I was 40 years old then.
Now I am 85, but I am still strong.
I can still go out and come in like before.
So please give me the mountain that God promised.”

Joshua smiled. He remembered everything.
He hugged Caleb and said,
“You are still brave. Go, and take over that mountain. God is with you!”

So Caleb went up the mountain.
It was not easy. The people living there were big and strong.
But Caleb trusted in God.
He fought off the giants and took over the mountain.

That mountain was called Hebron, and it became Caleb’s home.
He lived in peace with his family.
He looked after the land well.

Even at 85 years old, Caleb did not give up.
He held on to God’s word and followed after Him with all his heart.

His story shows us that we can trust God,
even when things are hard and we are old.
If we keep our faith, God will be with us.
