Sports Day Fun

It was a sunny Friday morning, and Lily was so excited. Today was Sports Day at school!
She got up early, brushed her hair, and put on her sports clothes and sneakers.

"Don’t forget to bring along your water bottle and hat," said Mom.
"Okay, Mom! I’m ready!" Lily said as she picked up her bag and headed out to school.

When Lily arrived at school, she saw colorful flags put up all around the field.
"Wow! Look at all the decorations!" she said.

 

 

Her friends were already there, and everyone was talking and laughing.

"Hi, Lily! Come and join in!" shouted Emma, waving.
Lily ran over to her friends and sat down with them to listen to the teacher.

The teacher smiled and said, "First, we will set up the race tracks and lay out the cones. Then we will go over the rules together."
Everyone helped to put together the cones and line up for the first race.

"Are you ready?" the teacher asked.
"Yes!" everyone shouted.

Lily was a little nervous, but she wanted to try out the running race.
"Go, Lily! You can do it!" her friends called out to her.

When the whistle blew, Lily took off running as fast as she could.
She kept on running even when she felt tired.
At the finish line, she caught up to Emma and finally came in second place!

"Good job, Lily! You kept up so well!" said Emma.
"Thanks! I almost gave up, but I didn’t," Lily said, breathing hard.

After the race, everyone sat down to drink water and cool off.
"I’m tired but happy!" said Lily, smiling.
"Me too! Let’s move on to the next game," said Tom.

Next, it was time to set up the relay race.
"Let’s team up and work together to win!" said Emma.
Lily and her team lined up and waited for their turn.

When it was Lily’s turn, she picked up the baton and ran off quickly.
"Don’t drop it!" her friends shouted.
She held on tight and passed the baton to the next runner.
Their team cheered loudly when they came in first place!

"Yay! We did it!" Lily shouted.
"High five!" Emma said as they held up their hands and laughed.

After the relay, they moved on to the sack race.
Lily jumped in the sack and held on so she wouldn’t fall.
She fell down once but got back up quickly and finished the race, laughing.

"That was so much fun!" said Lily.
"Yeah! Let’s take part in the ball toss next!" said Emma.

They lined up again, and when it was Lily’s turn, she picked up the ball and threw it as far as she could.
"Wow, great throw!" said Tom.
"Thanks! I’ve been practicing," Lily said, smiling. At the end of the day, the teacher handed out colorful ribbons to everyone.
"Great job, everyone! You all did your best!" the teacher said.

Before leaving, Lily and her friends took a picture to remember the fun day.
"Let’s meet up again tomorrow and talk about all the fun we had!" said Emma.
"Yes, and maybe plan out a new game for next Sports Day!" said Tom.

As Lily walked back home with Mom, she thought about all the races, games, and laughs.
"I can’t wait for next Sports Day!" she said happily.
"You did amazing today," said Mom. "I’m so proud of you."

Lily looked back at the school field and smiled. "Next time, I want to come in first!"
