1 Sports Day Fun

 

It was a sunny day at Sunny School. All the children were excited because today was Sports Day, the best day of the year!
Balloons and colorful flags hung up around the big field. Music played from the speakers, and everyone smiled.

"Let’s warm up before we start," said Mr. Kim, the P.E. teacher, holding a whistle.
The students stood up, stretched their arms and legs, and ran around the big field.
"Don’t run off too far!" Mr. Kim called out, laughing.

First, they had a running race. "On your marks, get set, go!" shouted Mr. Kim.
Ben took off so fast, but after a few steps, he fell down.
"Oh no! Are you okay?" asked Mia, running back to him.
Ben smiled and said, "Yes! I will get up and run again!"
Everyone cheered him on as he caught up with the others.

Next, they played tug-of-war. The red team and blue team held on to the rope tightly.
"Pull! Pull harder!" everyone called out, laughing and shouting.
The red team won, and they cheered and jumped up and down.

Then, it was time for the egg-and-spoon race.
Lily picked up her spoon and put on a big smile.
"Don't drop the egg!" said her friend Anna, giggling.
Lily walked on, carefully. But suddenly, her egg fell off the spoon!
She laughed and put it back quickly to finish the race.
Even though she didn’t come in first, she was happy.

After that, the students had a relay race.
Tom passed on the baton to Anna. Anna ran out as fast as she could!
Their team kept up and came in second. "Good job!" said Mr. Kim, giving them a thumbs-up.
"Next time, let’s go for first place!" said Tom, smiling.

At lunchtime, everyone sat down under the trees to eat.
They took out sandwiches, fruits, and juice.
"Let’s share our cookies," said Mia. "Yum!" said Ben, biting into a big cookie.
Suddenly, a little puppy ran over to them, wagging its tail.
"Aww, look at the puppy!" said Lily. "Don’t run away, little one!"
They played with the puppy and gave out bits of their food.

In the afternoon, they played ball games.
The boys kicked the soccer ball.
The girls threw and caught the volleyball.
Sometimes, they ran after the ball when it rolled away.
Ben tried to head back the soccer ball but missed and fell over again.
"Ben, you always fall down today!" Mia laughed.
"I know! But I always get back up," Ben said proudly.

Later, they had a three-legged race.
Anna and Lily tied up their legs and tried to move together.
"Let’s hold on to each other and keep going!" said Anna.
They fell over at first but got up and went on.
"One, two, one, two!" they counted as they walked along.
In the end, they came in third, but they were so happy because they didn't give up.

At the end of the day, Mr. Kim gave out prizes.
"Great work, everyone! You all did your best!" he said.
The students clapped and laughed out loud.
Some got medals, and others got toys and stickers.

As the sun went down, everyone helped clean up.
They picked up papers and put away the balls and ropes.
Even though they were tired, they were happy.

Sports Day was so much fun! They didn’t want it to end.
"Let’s do it again next year!" they said.
Mr. Kim smiled and said, "Of course! And maybe next time, we’ll have even more games!"
Everyone cheered again, thinking about next year's fun.
