Playing with Friends
It was a bright sunny morning. Birds were singing, and the wind was blowing softly.
Lily woke up early and looked out the window. She could see her friends already at the park, laughing and playing.
"Oh! I don’t want to miss the fun!" she said to herself. She quickly got up, put on her clothes, and ran down the stairs.
Her mom called, "Don’t forget to bring along your hat and water bottle!"
"Okay, Mom! Thank you!" Lily said as she picked up her bag and headed out the door.
When she reached the park, Emma and Tom were playing soccer. Max and Mia were drawing on the ground with chalk.
"Hey, Lily! Come and play with us!" shouted Emma, waving her hand.
Lily ran over and dropped her bag on the grass.
"What are you guys doing?" she asked.
"We are making a game! You should join in!" said Tom.
"Sure! What’s the game about?"
Tom smiled. "First, we kick around the ball. Then we look for treasure and write down the clues!"
"Wow! That sounds fun!" said Lily.
First, they picked up the ball and passed it around. They laughed every time someone missed a kick.
"Let’s come up with a team name!" suggested Mia.
"How about 'The Fast Foxes'?" said Max. Everyone agreed and cheered.
After playing soccer, they sat down to rest under a big tree.
"I’m hungry," said Emma. "Let’s take out some snacks."
They opened up their lunch boxes and handed out cookies, apples, and juice.
"Yum! Thank you!" Lily said, smiling.
While eating, Tom said, "Let’s set up a treasure hunt now!"
"Great idea!" said Max.
Emma pulled out a small map from her backpack. "I drew up this map last night! Let’s figure out where to start."
The map showed trees, rocks, a bench, and a playground. "Let’s go over there first!" said Lily, pointing to a big rock.
They all got up and walked over to the rock.
"Look! There’s a clue!" shouted Mia. She picked up a piece of paper stuck behind the rock.
Lily read out loud, "To find the treasure, look for the place where kids swing high and low."
"The swings!" said Tom. They all ran over to the swings.
Emma reached into the bushes and pulled out another clue.
"‘Now, head over to the tallest slide and find out what’s hiding there,’" read Emma.
So, they climbed up the slide and looked around.
Max found a small box near the top. "I found out where the treasure is!"
They all cheered and gathered around.
"Let’s open up the box together," said Lily.
Inside, there were colorful candies, stickers, and small toys.
"Wow! Let’s share out the toys and candies," said Mia.
They each picked out something they liked.
Afterward, they cleaned up the trash and put away the empty box.
"Let’s pick up our things and move on to the next game," said Tom.
They decided to make up funny stories. Sitting in a circle, each person came up with one sentence to add to the story.
"I saw a flying dog," said Lily.
"And it picked up a giant ice cream!" added Emma.
They all laughed and laughed.
Later, the sun started to go down, and the sky turned orange and pink.
Their parents called out from a distance, "Time to head home, kids!"
"Okay!" they all answered.
"Let’s meet up again tomorrow!" shouted Max.
As Lily walked back home, she thought about all the fun she had.
She couldn’t wait to hang out with her friends again and come up with new games.
"I’ll write down today in my diary," she whispered, smiling.
It was a perfect day!
