Acting as a Historical Figure
This month in social studies, our teacher gave us a fun project.
She said, “You’ll each act out a famous person from history.”
Everyone looked at each other in surprise.
I sat back and thought about who I should choose.
Jina picked a queen, Minho chose a general,
and I decided on a scientist—Marie Curie.
I always looked up to her because she was brave and smart.
We wrote down our choices and started to prepare.
Our teacher told us to dress up and present in front of the class.
At home, I searched for information online.
I read about Marie’s work with radiation.
Then I made notes and a short speech.
My mom helped me make a costume.
She cut out a white lab coat from an old shirt.
We put on a pin to look like a medal.
I felt nervous, but also excited.
On performance day, I brought a small test tube and notebook.
My group lined up backstage and waited quietly.
When it was my turn, I walked to the front.
I stood in front of the class and took a deep breath.
Then I said, “My name is Marie Curie.”
I talked about how she loved science and worked hard for her goals.
I acted like I was in a real lab, writing and thinking.
The class watched quietly.
Jina walked out in a long dress and spoke like a queen.
Minho held up a fake sword and shouted like a general.
We all clapped for each other.
After the show, the teacher came over and said,
“You all did your best and really brought history to life!”
She gave us stickers and a big smile.
That night, I wrote in my journal.
I said, “Today I became a scientist.”
I learned about someone who never gave up.
And I felt proud of myself.
Next time, I want to act as an inventor or a writer.
I want to keep learning and trying new things.
Because when we step into someone’s shoes,
we understand their world better.
History isn’t just in books.
We can bring it to life when we imagine and act.
