Getting Fitted for My New School Uniform 

 

This weekend, I went to pick out my new middle school uniform.
It felt exciting but also a little scary.
My mom said, “Let’s get this done early before it gets crowded.”
So we headed to the uniform store near our house.

When we got there, many other students were already trying on uniforms.
A worker came to greet us and asked for my school name.
She pulled out the correct uniform set from a rack.
Then she said, “Let’s measure you first.”

She used a soft tape to measure my shoulders and waist.
I stood still and tried not to move around.
She said, “You’re growing fast!”
I smiled, feeling a little shy.

Then she told me to go into the fitting room.
I put on the shirt and pants carefully.
The pants were a bit too long, so she said she’d adjust them.
I stepped out to show my mom.

Mom smiled and said, “You look like a middle schooler now!”
I looked in the mirror and smoothed down the shirt.
The jacket was a little tight, so we decided to go up a size.
I liked how the outfit made me feel older.

We also had to choose gym clothes and indoor shoes.
I picked out a red tracksuit and white sneakers.
The socks had our school name printed on them.
I thought they were cool.

After I changed back into my normal clothes,
we sat down to go over the order form.
We checked sizes, prices, and delivery dates.
Mom said, “Make sure to double-check everything.”

I signed my name at the bottom of the form.
Then we went to pay for everything at the front desk.
I said “thank you” to the store owner.
She waved and said, “Good luck in middle school!”

When I got home, I couldn’t stop thinking about the uniform.
It made me feel like a new chapter was really starting.
I even hung up the receipt on my wall.
Now I just had to wait for the real uniform to arrive.

The next day, I told my friends about the experience.
They asked, “Was it fun? Were you nervous?”
I said, “Both!” and we all laughed.
One friend said she was going next week.

I also helped my younger brother try on his uniform for kindergarten.
He looked up to me and said, “Wow, middle school looks cool.”
I felt proud and said, “You’ll get here someday too.”

Later, I wrote the delivery date on our calendar.
I wanted to count down the days.
Just thinking about wearing that uniform on the first day makes me smile.

셔츠와 바지를 조심히 입었어요.

바지가 살짝 길어서 직원이 수선해준다고 하셨어요.

나와서 엄마에게 보여드렸어요.

 

엄마가 “이제 중학생 같다~” 하시며 웃었고,

저는 거울을 보며 셔츠를 정리했어요.

자켓이 조금 끼어서 한 사이즈 크게 했어요.

입고 나니 한층 어른스러워진 기분이었어요.

 

체육복과 실내화도 골라야 했어요.

저는 빨간색 트레이닝복과 흰색 운동화를 골랐고,

양말엔 학교 이름이 적혀 있었어요.

멋지다 생각했죠.

 

다시 평상복으로 갈아입고,

엄마와 함께 주문서를 검토했어요.

사이즈, 가격, 배송날짜까지 체크했죠.

엄마가 “한 번 더 확인해봐~” 하셨어요.

 

맨 아래에 제 이름을 쓰고,

계산대에 가서 결제를 했어요.

“감사합니다!” 하고 인사하자,

점원도 “중학교 생활 파이팅이에요!”라고 말해주셨어요.

 

집에 오자마자 저는 교복 생각이 머리에서 떠나지 않았어요.

정말 새로운 시작이 다가오는 기분이었어요.

영수증을 벽에 붙여두었어요.

이제 교복이 오기만을 기다리면 돼요.

 

다음 날, 친구들에게 교복 맞춘 이야기를 해줬어요.

“재밌었어? 긴장됐어?” 하고 물었고,

“둘 다였어!” 하자 다들 웃었어요.

한 친구는 다음 주에 맞추러 간대요.

 

저는 동생이 유치원 교복 입어보는 것도 도와줬어요.

그는 저를 우러러보며 “우와, 중학생 멋지다…” 하더라고요.

저는 “너도 언젠가 여기까지 올 거야”라고 말했어요.

 

나중에 배송날짜를 달력에 써두고,

며칠 남았는지 세어봤어요.

교복 입고 첫 등교하는 날을 생각하니 웃음이 나요.

옷 그 이상이죠. 변화의 상징이에요.
