Elementary School Memory Interviews 

 

Our teacher gave us a special project this week.
We had to interview our classmates about their best memories in elementary school.
She told us to write down their answers and share them with the class.
I was excited to look back on the good times.

First, I made a list of questions to ask.
Things like, “What was your favorite class?”
Or “Who always made you laugh out loud?”
Then I walked around the room with my notebook.

I started by talking to my best friend.
She said her favorite memory was the field trip to the zoo.
We both laughed about the time a monkey stole someone’s snack.
I quickly jotted it down.

Next, I went over to another classmate.
He said, “I’ll never forget when I stood up to read my poem in front of everyone.”
He said he was nervous, but we all cheered for him.
“That made me feel brave,” he said.

I also interviewed one of the quietest kids in class.
At first, she didn’t want to open up,
but after I smiled and said, “Just say anything fun,” she started to talk about her favorite books.
She even shared a drawing she made in art class.

Some kids said they’d miss the lunch ladies.
Others said they’d miss recess or cleaning time with friends.
I wrote down everything they said.
Every answer made me smile.

After I finished all the interviews,
I sat at my desk and began to go through my notes.
I wanted to put together the funniest and warmest stories.
Our teacher said we could read them out loud the next day.

At home, I typed up my report and checked it over twice.
I also added in a drawing of our classroom.
It made the project feel more personal.
I couldn’t wait to present it.

The next morning, I was the first to raise my hand.
I walked to the front and looked at my friends.
They all smiled and sat quietly, ready to listen.
I took a deep breath and began.

I read through each memory with joy.
Everyone laughed when I brought up the classroom plant that died and came back to life.
They also teared up when I read about someone’s farewell message.
It felt like we were all remembering together.

After I finished, the teacher clapped and said, “That was beautiful.”
My classmates also clapped for me.
One friend whispered, “Thanks for writing about my story.”
That made me feel proud.

Later that day, some kids came up to me and said,
“Can I see the part where you mentioned me?”
I smiled and said, “Of course!”
I was glad I had taken the time to listen to everyone.

That night, I thought back on all the memories.
I felt lucky to be part of such a fun and kind class.
This project wasn’t just about writing.
It was about collecting pieces of us.

Now I want to print out my memory report and give copies to my friends.
I hope they’ll look back on it someday and smile,
just like we did when we heard it together.
This project became one of my favorite memories too.

이번 주에 선생님이 특별 과제를 주셨어요.

우리 반 친구들을 인터뷰해서 초등학교 추억을 모아보는 거였어요.

저는 우리가 함께했던 시간들을 되돌아볼 생각에 설렜어요.

 

먼저, 친구들에게 물어볼 질문들을 정리했어요.

“가장 좋아했던 수업은 뭐야?”

“웃음 터졌던 순간은 언제였어?” 같은 질문들이었죠.

그 다음, 저는 공책을 들고 교실을 돌아다녔어요.

 

처음에는 단짝 친구에게 말을 걸었고,

그녀는 “동물원 소풍 갔던 날이 최고였어”라고 했어요.

우리는 원숭이가 간식을 훔쳐 간 일을 웃으며 떠올렸고,

저는 바로 그 장면을 적어두었어요.

 

그다음은 조용한 친구에게 다가갔어요.

그는 “내가 시를 읽었던 날이 기억나”라고 말했어요.

우리는 모두 그를 응원했고,

“그때 정말 용기 낼 수 있었어”라고 했죠.

 

처음엔 말을 잘 안 하던 친구도,

제가 웃으며 “편하게 말해도 돼~” 하니까

그녀는 좋아하는 책 이야기와 미술 시간 얘기를 툭 털어놨어요.

심지어 작품도 공유해줬어요.

 

어떤 친구는 “난 급식실 아주머니들이 그리울 거야” 하고,

다른 친구는 청소시간 친구들과 웃던 순간을 얘기했어요.

저는 모든 말을 다 적었고,

읽으면서 저절로 웃음이 나왔어요.

 

모든 인터뷰가 끝나자,

저는 책상에 앉아 메모들을 정리하기 시작했어요.

가장 웃기고 따뜻한 이야기들을 모아보려고 했죠.

선생님은 “내일 모두 앞에서 읽을 수 있어”라고 하셨어요.

 

집에 가서, 저는 내용을 타자로 정리했고,

두 번이나 검토했어요.

그리고 우리 반 그림도 넣었어요.

그 덕분에 이 과제가 더 특별해졌죠.

 

다음 날, 저는 제일 먼저 손을 들었어요.

앞에 나가 친구들을 바라봤고,

모두 조용히 앉아 미소 지으며 기다렸어요.

저는 숨을 크게 들이쉬고 시작했어요.

 

하나하나 기억들을 읽을 때마다 행복했어요.

죽은 줄 알았던 교실 화분이 다시 살아났던 얘기엔 모두 웃었고,

작별 메시지를 읽을 땐 눈시울이 붉어졌어요.

우리 모두가 추억을 함께 떠올리고 있었어요.

 

끝나고 나서, 선생님이 “정말 아름다웠어”라고 박수치셨어요.

친구들도 함께 박수를 쳤고,

어떤 친구는 “내 이야기 써줘서 고마워” 하고 속삭였어요.

저는 정말 뿌듯했어요.

 

그날 오후, 몇몇 친구들이 다가와서,

“내 얘기 나오는 부분 보여줘~” 하고 물었어요.

저는 “당연하지!” 하고 웃었죠.

모두의 말을 잘 들어줘서 기뻤어요.

 

그날 밤, 저는 하루를 되돌아보며,

“정말 따뜻한 반이었구나…” 싶었어요.

이 과제는 단순한 글쓰기가 아니었어요.

우리 반의 조각들을 하나하나 모은 일이었어요.

 

이제 저는 이 인터뷰 글을 출력해서 친구들에게 나눠주고 싶어요.

언젠가 친구들이 그걸 보며 미소 지을 수 있으면,

그것만으로 충분하니까요.

저에게도 가장 소중한 추억이 되었거든요.
