A Group Project Mistake 

Hey everyone. Today, I want to tell you about a mistake I made during a group project — and what I learned from it.

Last week, our teacher gave us a group project in science class.
We had to make a poster about the weather.
My group had four people.
We sat down and talked about who would do what.

I said I would draw the pictures.
Jina said she would write down the facts.
Soojin would cut out pictures from a magazine.
Doyoon said he would present on the day.

We all agreed and wrote our parts in our notebooks.
But… the next day, I forgot my job.
I went home and played games all evening.
I thought someone else would do it.

The next day, I walked into class and saw my group.
Jina looked worried.
She asked, “Did you bring the drawings?”
My face turned red.
I said, “No… I didn’t.”

Everyone was quiet.
I felt really bad.
Jina and Soojin tried to fix the poster.
Doyoon helped them too.
I just stood there and watched.

At lunch, I sat alone.
I thought about what I had done.
After school, I went to the art room and drew the pictures.
Then I gave them to my team.

The next day, we put everything together.
The poster wasn’t perfect, but we finished it.

When we stood in front of the class,
I took a deep breath and said,
“I want to say sorry to my group. I didn’t do my part yesterday.”
My team looked at me and smiled a little.
They said, “It’s okay. Thanks for being honest.”

We presented the poster and did our best.
After class, I thanked my team and said,
“I’ll do better next time.”

This was not easy to say.
But I’m glad I told the truth.

모두 조용했어요.

기분이 정말 나빴어요.

지나와 수진이 포스터를 고치려고 했고,

도윤이도 도왔어요.

저는 그냥 서서 보기만 했어요.

 

점심시간엔 혼자 앉았고,

내가 뭘 잘못했는지 계속 생각했어요.

수업이 끝난 후 미술실에 가서

제가 맡은 그림을 그려 조원들에게 줬어요.

 

다음 날 우리는 포스터를 다시 완성했고,

완벽하진 않았지만 마무리는 했어요.

 

발표할 때 반 앞에 서서

숨을 깊이 들이쉬고 말했어요.

“어제 제 역할을 못 해서 미안해요.”

친구들이 절 보며 살짝 웃었어요.

“괜찮아. 솔직해서 고마워.”

 

우리는 발표를 잘 마쳤고,

수업 후에 저는 조원들에게 “다음엔 더 잘할게”라고 했어요.

 

쉽진 않았지만

진실을 말한 게 잘한 일이라고 생각해요.

그리고 지금은 약속을 지키는 게 정말 중요하다는 걸 알게 됐어요.
