Today in class, our teacher said we would play a name game.
I got excited right away because I love games.
She told us to come up with fun ways to remember each other’s names.
First, we had to write down everyone’s name on a paper.
Then we had to go over the list again and again.
To help us, the teacher put up pictures on the board.
Each photo had a name, and we tried to match up names with faces.
I tried to keep up with the group, but it was hard!
There are 26 kids in my class!
I tried to think of funny clues for each name.
For example, “Sally sings songs” or “Danny dances daily.”
My best friend and I teamed up to study together.
We went over the names during lunch too.
I even made up a song to help me remember.
In the afternoon, we had the real game.
The teacher called on each of us one by one.
When it was my turn, I stood up and looked around the room.
I tried to point out as many friends as I could.
I got a few wrong, but I didn’t give up.
My teacher said, “Keep going, you can do it!”
I smiled and got through the list.
Some classmates cheered on me when I said their names.
I felt proud that I didn’t blank out.
One boy even clapped for me when I got his name right.
After the game, we all sat down and laughed together.
The teacher told us this would help us get to know each other better.
She also said, “Friends stick together, so let’s learn names with care.”
Later, I thought back on the game and smiled.
It was funny when I almost mixed up two boys named Leo and Leon.
But I finally found a trick to tell them apart.
I wrote their names again and looked over their photos.
Now I feel like I can really remember everyone.
I’ll keep trying to hold on to the names in my mind.
Maybe tomorrow I can help out a new student.
I’ll go over the names with them too.
My friend and I plan to come up with more games.
I think this activity really helped us open up.
Even shy kids joined in and started talking.
By the end of the day, we were all getting along so well.

 본문 해석

오늘 수업에서 선생님이 이름 맞추기 게임을 한다고 하셨다.

나는 게임을 좋아해서 바로 신이 났다.

선생님은 친구들의 이름을 기억하는 방법을 생각해보라고 하셨다.

먼저 우리는 모든 친구 이름을 종이에 적었고,

그걸 반복해서 복습했다.

도움이 되도록 선생님은 칠판에 사진을 붙이셨다.

사진마다 이름이 있어서 우리는 얼굴과 이름을 매치하려 했다.

나는 다른 친구들 속도를 따라가려고 했지만, 너무 어려웠다!

우리 반엔 26명의 친구가 있다!

나는 이름을 외우기 위한 재미있는 단서들을 생각해냈다.

베스트프렌드와 나는 함께 공부하려고 한 팀이 되었다.

점심시간에도 우리는 이름들을 복습했다.

선생님이 우리를 한 명씩 지명하셨고,

내 차례가 되어 앞에 서서 교실을 둘러보았다.

나는 친구들을 지목하면서 이름을 외쳤다.

선생님은 “계속해봐, 할 수 있어!”라고 하셨다.

나는 미소를 지으며 리스트를 끝까지 해냈다.

몇몇 친구들은 내가 자기 이름을 말하자 응원해줬다.

머리가 하얘지지 않고 해낸 게 정말 뿌듯했다.

어떤 친구는 내가 이름을 맞추자 박수를 쳐줬다.

게임이 끝난 후 우리는 모두 앉아서 함께 웃었다.

선생님은 이 게임이 서로를 더 잘 알게 해줄 거라고 하셨다.

그리고 “친구는 함께 뭉치는 법이야”라고 말씀하셨다.

나중에 나는 게임을 되돌아보며 미소 지었다.

Leo와 Leon을 헷갈렸던 게 특히 웃겼다.

그래도 결국은 구별하는 방법을 찾아냈다.

나는 이름을 다시 쓰고 사진도 다시 살펴보았다.

이제는 모두의 이름을 정말 기억할 수 있을 것 같다.

내일은 새 친구에게 도움을 주고 싶다.

그 아이랑 이름도 복습해주려 한다.

친구와 나는 또 다른 게임을 생각해내기로 했다.

이번 활동이 우리를 정말 마음 열게 해준 것 같다.

부끄러웠던 친구들도 참여하기 시작했고,

하루가 끝날 즈음엔 모두가 정말 사이좋게 지냈다.
