Ara walked into the classroom and saw something on her desk.
It was a certificate with her name on it!

“What’s this?” she picked it up carefully.

“You won the handwriting contest!” her teacher called out.
“Everyone, let’s give Ara a big clap!”

Her classmates clapped and cheered.
Ara’s cheeks turned red, but she smiled wide.

“I didn’t think I’d win,” she whispered to her friend.
“You worked hard, so you deserve it!” her friend replied.

She looked at the certificate again.
It had gold stars and her name in big letters.

At home, Ara showed it to her parents.
They hugged her tightly.

“We’re so proud of you!” they said.

Ara hung up the award on her wall.

That night, she looked at it before going to bed.

Winning felt nice—
but being proud of herself felt even better.

집에 와서 아라는 상장을 부모님께 보여드렸어요.

부모님은 아라를 꼭 안아 주셨어요.

 

“정말 자랑스럽다!” 부모님이 말씀하셨어요.

 

아라는 상장을 자기 방 벽에 걸었어요.

 

그날 밤, 잠자리에 들기 전에 상장을 다시 바라보았어요.

 

상을 받는 건 기뻤지만,

스스로 자랑스러운 기분은 더 좋았어요.
