Introducing My Family to the Class 

Today in class, our teacher told us that we would do family presentations.
At first, I was shy and didn’t want to stand up in front of everyone.
But I decided to be brave and go through with it.
So I wrote down a few things about my family.
I also put together some pictures from home.
Last night, I looked for old family photos with my mom.
We even came across a funny one where my dad wore a silly hat.
I couldn’t wait to show off that one!
In the morning, I went over my speech again.
I didn’t want to leave out anything important.
Then I got ready for school and packed everything in my bag.
When class started, the teacher called on me first.
I stood up, walked to the front, and took a deep breath.
I started by saying, “Hello everyone, I want to talk about my family.”
I held up a picture of my whole family at the beach.
My classmates smiled and looked at the photo.
Then I pointed out each person and said their names.
I said, “This is my mom. She always looks after me.”
“This is my dad. He helps me work on my homework.”
I showed my little sister and said, “She always runs around the house.”
Everyone laughed when I brought up the silly hat photo.
I told them that my dad put it on to make us laugh.
Then I talked about our pet dog, Max.
I said he chews on everything, even my shoes!
I almost left out my grandma, but I remembered just in time.
She always comes over on weekends to cook with us.
After the presentation, everyone clapped and the teacher pointed out my effort.
She told me I did a great job and asked me to hand over the photos.
She wanted to put them up on the bulletin board.
Later, my friends came up to me and said, “That was fun!”
They even asked for copies of the funny photo.
At lunch, I sat down with my friends and we talked about our families.
It was fun to hear about their moms and dads too.
When I got home, I told my mom about my day.
She was proud and gave me a big hug.
She said, “You really opened up in front of your class!”
I smiled and said, “I’m glad I didn’t chicken out.”
Next time, I’ll be happy to stand up again and share more!

본문 해석

오늘 수업에서 우리는 가족 소개 발표를 했다.

처음엔 모두 앞에서 일어서는 게 좀 부끄러웠다.

그래도 용기를 내어 끝까지 해보기로 했다.

그래서 가족에 대해 몇 가지를 적었고,

집에서 사진도 모아 준비했다.

어젯밤 엄마랑 옛날 사진을 찾았는데,

아빠가 이상한 모자를 쓴 웃긴 사진을 우연히 발견했다.

그걸 자랑하고 싶어서 너무 기대됐다!

아침에 발표문을 다시 복습했다.

중요한 걸 빼먹고 싶지 않아서 말이지.

학교에 갈 준비를 하고 가방에 자료들을 챙겼다.

수업이 시작되자 선생님이 나를 첫 번째로 지명하셨다.

나는 일어나서 앞에 나갔고, 깊게 숨을 들이쉬었다.

“안녕하세요. 제 가족에 대해 말하고 싶어요.”

하면서 발표를 시작했다.

온 가족이 해변에 간 사진을 들어 올려 보여주었다.

친구들은 사진을 보며 웃었다.

한 명씩 지목하며 이름을 말해주었다.

“이 사람은 엄마예요. 항상 저를 돌봐주세요.”

“이분은 아빠예요. 숙제를 같이 도와주세요.”

여동생 사진을 보여주며, “항상 집안을 뛰어다녀요.”

아빠의 웃긴 모자 사진을 언급했을 때,

모두 웃었고, 나는 “아빠가 웃기려고 쓰셨어요.”라고 말했다.

우리 집 강아지 Max도 이야기했다.

“얘는 신발까지 물어뜯어요!”

할머니를 빼먹을 뻔했지만, 다행히 기억났다.

할머니는 주말마다 우리 집에 오셔서 요리를 같이 하신다.

발표가 끝난 후, 친구들이 박수를 쳤고 선생님은 내 발표를 칭찬하셨다.

사진을 넘겨 달라고 하셔서,

게시판에 붙이신다고 하셨다.

나중에 친구들이 다가와서, “진짜 재밌었어!”라고 말해주었다.

아빠 사진 복사해달라고 부탁하기도 했다.

점심시간에는 친구들과 함께 앉아서, 가족 이야기를 나누었다.

다른 친구들의 부모님 이야기를 듣는 것도 재미있었다.

집에 돌아와서, 엄마에게 오늘 있었던 일을 말해주었다.

엄마는 기뻐하시며 나를 꼭 안아주셨다.

“네가 교실에서 마음을 열고 말하다니, 정말 기특하다.”

나는 “겁먹지 않길 잘했어요.”라고 말했다.

다음엔 또 자신 있게 앞에 나가서 발표할 거다!
